If you have enough cargo to fill an entire 20-foot or 40-foot container, FCL is the preferred choice. You pay for the exclusive use of the container, which minimizes handling, lowers the risk of damage, and speeds up processing since the container remains sealed until it reaches its final destination.
Less-than-Container Load (LCL):
If your shipment is smaller, forwarders offer consolidation services (often called groupage). They combine your cargo with goods from other shippers into a single shared container, allowing you to pay only for the specific volume or weight your items occupy.
Specialized Cargo Handling
Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo): Used for wheeled cargo such as automobiles, trucks, and specialized heavy machinery that can be driven directly onto and off the vessel.
Break Bulk & Project Cargo: Designed for oversized, extraordinarily heavy, or awkwardly shaped items (such as industrial turbines or manufacturing equipment) that cannot fit into standard shipping containers.
Temperature-Controlled Shipping (Reefers): Utilizing specialized refrigerated containers to safely transport perishable foods, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals across long ocean voyages under strict climate compliance.
